Overview

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Associate Executive Director is responsible for managing all aspects of the operations of the Freehold Family YMCA. Additionally, this position will work with Branch leadership to ensure that a culture of safety exists, full compliance with industry safety standards is met, recommendations and requirements of outside agencies are followed, and overall practices are strengthened. The scope of responsibility includes management of all programs, staff and volunteers following the policies and procedures set forth by the YMCA of the Jersey Shore. This position is a senior member of the branch management team responsible for the overall management of the YMCA.

Responsibilities

Community Relations / Marketing

  • Work with immediate supervisor and the association office to develop and implement a marketing plan according to established timeline and budget.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships within the local community and among volunteers.
  • Perform duties as the point of contact for Community Organizations seeking YMCA support for community functions.
  • Lead branch events such as Healthy Kids Day, Sr. Health and Fitness Day, Diversity events and other community events as determined

 

Fiscal Management

  • Develop and implement strategies and tactics to meet or exceed total budgeted program revenue.
  • Develop and monitor all budgets in accordance with association guidelines and practices to reach net income. 

 

Program Development

  • Work collaboratively within all program areas.
  • Develop new and innovative programs to meet the needs of the local community.
  • Ensure programs operate at high quality and are evaluated as to effectiveness and relevance.
  • Provide onsite supervision of the wellness programs and staff, work with other branch Directors to further develop wellness programming.
  • Lead Aquatics Quality Team for the Association.

 

Financial Development/Volunteers

  • Administer financial assistance programs.
  • Participate in annual support campaign and lead Staff Giving efforts to meet or exceed philanthropy goals.
  • Participate in Togetherhood and volunteer programs to benefit the community.

 

Staff Development

  • Mentor, coach and train direct reports to achieve performance and professional development goals.
  • Monitor annual performance standards for direct reports and conduct annual evaluation and provide development plan.
  • Evaluate staff on performance annually.

 

Safety Management and Compliance

  • Initiates efforts to evaluate programs and facility operations in regard to safety and risk management through site visits, audits and utilization of assessment tools supported by industry leaders. Works with branch leadership to develop and monitor corrective action plans as needed.
  • Identifies and pursues relevant accreditation opportunities related to safety and risk management.
  • Lead Aquatics quality Team ensuring Aquatics Safety plans are followed and reviewed annually.
  • Manage training events for Lifeguards and Swim Instructors ensuring they are scheduled and completed.
  • Co-Lead Youth Protection Quality Team
  • Ensure Scheduled drills occur per branch with documentation
  • Serve as back up to Branch Executive for all aspects of operations, including building emergencies.
  • Take lead in ensuring compliance with EAP, Aquatics Safety Plan and Association Safety goals. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Five (5) or more years of experience in customer service, membership sales, and supervisory experience in building strong teams and team development; preference given to previous YMCA experience.
  2. Ability to direct assigned operations including volunteer development, supervision
    of staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations,
    and program development.
  3. Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations
  4. Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
  5. CPR/First Aid/AED/Oxygen certifications required within 60 days of start date.
